Recently my friend and I headed over to the CEE 2016 show (nothing much to see, please don't go) at Suntec Convention Centre and stumbled upon this mini light tent named Light Room and here's what I think about it.
Introduction

| It offers full lighting control but takes a lot of time to set up with lights |
A light tent, if you have never come across one, is basically a tent used mainly for product photography. Most of the time, it comes in a fabric material so you can use your own lighting on the outside and have loads of control.
If you are an entrepreneur selling physical products and you have the latest flagship smartphone, these light tents with LEDs built-in is your solution to better product photos without the high cost.
Features

| Micro-USB to power the single LED strip, genius! |
- Easy set up or folds in less that 5 seconds with built-in magnet alignment
- Built-in LED strip with a micro-USB power input
- LED strip is on a flap so it allows some control over light direction
- Comes with 2 foam backgrounds (white and black)
- Small and portable at 22.6cm x 23cm x 24cm (unfolded) and 27.5cm x 26.5cm x 2cm (folded)
Thoughts
As I've mentioned, the Light Room mini light tent is a really good solution for entrepreneurs who are dealing with physical products and want better looking product photos for your online selling. Here are some sample photos taken with my LG G3 using the Light Room.
They already look good enough and if you take time to put them through some post processing, they will look really good to attract more customers.
The foam backgrounds does a really good job of not bouncing off the lights and softens the shadow of the subject. Having a white and black one in the package really saves you the trouble of making your own or ironing the fabric ones, I've been there and done that.

| Cropped and adjusted the colour curves and it looks really good |
If I have to nitpick, the only thing that bothers me is the size. Don't get me wrong, the small size makes it really handy and portable but that also means a smaller area of photography for your products. I think it can handle pretty well up to the size of a mug or perfume bottle but give it a book or larger toy and you will find yourself shooting a lot of the light tent itself. However if you really need a bigger light tent, search further and you will find one but they usually aren't that portable and cost much more (still a worthy investment).
Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Truly portable with lights built-in | Shooting area a little small |
| Can be powered by power bank | |
| Foam backgrounds provided |
Final Verdict

| 3 minutes was all I took from set up to storing it away with 3 shots |
I bought mine at SGD$28 (approx. USD$21) and never regretted it, even though I have only used it casually for my reviews or selling off personal items online. It really made taking great product photos a breeze and quick without the hassle of setting up lighting all around.
I got mine from the CEE 2016 show but I found the exact same product on Amazon for only USD$16.23.
If you think my review is helpful and you want to treat me to a cup of coffee, consider buying through the affiliate link. You still pay the same retail price but the seller leaves me a small tip.

There's a larger one as I've mentioned with even better functions but you will most likely set it up once and keep it that way as it's troublesome to set up or fold away.
